After selling out an often-extended run at The Beechman in 2013, a national tour, a 3-month Australian tour, and a summer run in Provincetown, RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon, along with Major Scales, returns to New York with the World Premiere of THE VAUDEVILLIANS: BRINGING UP BABY! Dr. Dan and Kitty Witless were put on ice in the Twenties, and had their entire music catalogue purloined by today’s pop artists. Now the hottest act ever frozen alive is back again, with more swinging hits from their stolen songbook! There’s only one problem: Kitty’s “in a family way” and no one’s quite sure where the kid came from. Can The Vaudevillians still put on a show while bringing up baby?

Poor Kitty Witless. It’s a little embarrassing not being quite sure who fathered your unborn child, but she also seems hazy on whether the conception took place in this century or the last. Yes, Kitty and her piano-playing hubby, Dr. Dan, are back at the Laurie Beechman Theater, and this time she’s pregnant, which explains the title of their new show: “The Vaudevillians: Bringing Up Baby.” It’s drag debauchery complete with an onstage birth, and if it’s not as satisfying or well thought out as their earlier show, “The Vaudevillians,” which packed the same theater in 2013, at the least it will certainly satisfy core fans. There are plenty of those. Kitty is Jinkx Monsoon, a drag performer who was the Season 5 winner of the reality TV show “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Her sidekick, playing Dr. Dan, goes by the stage name Major Scales. Offstage, Ms. Monsoon is Jerick Hoffer; Mr. Scales is Richard Andriessen. Whatever names they’re using, they’ve come up with a funny conceit: Kitty and Dr. Dan, songwriters, were frozen in an avalanche in the 1920s, and after being thawed recently they discovered that many of their songs had been stolen by more recent artists and turned into pop hits.
