Showing up is half the battle…and then there’s the other half. When a daughter comes home to care for her aging mother, memory is only one land mine in the contemporary new musical. Conflicting versions of the past collide in this honest and darkly funny portrait of a mother, a daughter, and their inescapable relationship. Drama Desk & OBIE Award winning Transport Group Theatre Company brings you the New York premiere of The Memory Show, with music by Zach Redler and book & lyrics by Sara Cooper. Directed by Lucille Lortel winner Joe Calarco (Shakespeare’s R & J),The Memory Show stars Catherine Cox (Baby, Footloose) and Leslie Kritzer (A Catered Affair, Rooms).

“We’re on the same side.” As the words are sung by the two characters in “The Memory Show,” at the Duke Theater, they hardly suggest a united front. The voices, loud and raw with effort, scrape and grind against each other, and the effect is the opposite of harmony. If these women are on the same side, you shudder to think what warfare sounds like.
