The mundane business of choosing a toothbrush evokes a small crisis in the confusing new life of Monty (Alfredo Narciso), the ex-convict hero of “After.,” a quiet new drama by Chad Beckim that opened Wednesday night at the Wild Project in the East Village. Monty isn’t prepared for the daily onslaught of decision making required in civilian life. He’s been incarcerated for 17 years — just about half of his life — and the task of reintegrating into a world he barely recognizes leaves him feeling alienated at every turn.
