Daniel Beaty has shown promise as a theatrical form-bender with works like “Emergence-See!,” a one-man show in which he played about 40 characters. But he takes a step backward into the land of shopworn plots and easy button pushing with “Tearing Down the Walls,” his new, overly long musical at the Riverside Theater.
