Isla waits in a waiting room in a tower as a man watches her, documents her every move and pulls her dreams from her. In this brave new world, Enda Walsh dares to imagine that the individual might somehow survive and that there’s still a place for love. Italian film composer Teho Teardo and choreographer Emma Martin join the three exquisite performers to “push theatrical boundaries resulting in a powerful experience in which [dance], music and video collide” (Sunday Times).

The fine Irish tradition of spinning a good yarn rattles with desperation in Enda Walsh’s “Arlington,” which has turned St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn into an electric shock ward for the narratively challenged. In this riveting fever dream of a play, which opened on Wednesday night, the three characters we meet are the human equivalents of caged songbirds.
